Baklavaci Hacibaba @ Kizilay, Ankara

Assalamualaikum :D
Baklava is a traditional Middle East/Turkish sweet pastry consists of layers of phyllo filled with nuts and is sweetened with sugar or syrup. Even though it has a very sweet taste, it  is one of the Turks favourite desserts other than the lokum (delights) since the Ottoman Empire. Baklavas are usually been served for both formal occasions and non-formal occasions.

Baklavaci Hacibaba (pronounced as Hajibaba) is one of the legacy bakery that makes baklava for many years, to be exact since 1949. The bakery is well known by the locals and foreigners who also claimed that the baklava there is the best in town. Besides bakery, Hacibaba also has its own chains of restaurants. I went to the bakery which is situated near Kizilay. The bakery was simply decorated yet elegant.

Choose which type of baklava and how many kg you want. The worker will package them nicely in a box for you. Besides buying baklava for takeaways, there was also an eating area provided for customers who wish to leisurely enjoy the desserts there.

Some of the types of baklava. Pistachio is one of the favourite ingredient used to make baklava.
